Minibugs Nurseries (St Austell) is based in a new building, our nursery provides modern facilities and a stimulating and nurturing Early Years environment for children between the ages of three months and five years.

Putting your mini person first Our children are at the heart of our nursery, and activities are created based on their interests, thoughts and ideas.

Places to Learn, Play and Grow – Our rooms are full of natural play resources to help your child’s imagination thrive, giving them endless learning opportunities in a calming and happy setting

Children can enjoy outdoor learning and play every day in our fantastic outdoor play and activity areas. We encourage free-flow play and our children to enjoy being creative and adventurous both indoors and outdoors.

Involving you every step of the way…

Parent partnerships are so important to us. Our nursery team will keep you updated on daily activities and observations and work with parents to monitor and evidence your child’s individual learning journey.

Our friendly staff

We only employ staff who understand our childcare philosophy, believe in it themselves and love working with children and supporting them in developing their individual personalities and interests.

Every child has a key person who will be responsible for their care routines, plan activities to extend each child’s skills and knowledge focused on their interest and will be a parent / carers main point of contact at our nursery.

Our super Minibugs nursery team are all advanced paediatric first aid trained and receive regular safeguarding and early years’ child development training.

Our nursery staff at Minibugs St Austell comprises a blend of mature, experienced and professionally qualified nursery practitioners and apprentices working towards their qualifications. All staff are skilled in expertly guiding your child through the wonders of learning whilst playing.

Meet Rebecca – Nursery Manager

‘I have a foundation degree in Early Childhood Education and have 8 years’ experience in childcare. I believe that as a childcare professional in a nursery, we become an extended part of your child’s family, so it is paramount to provide a warm and caring environment. I am a Mum to a beautiful little girl, we love the outdoors and spending time with our families. We are both so excited to join the Minibugs family.’

Meet Kirstie – Deputy Nursery Manager

‘I have a BTEC National Diploma in Early Years and have 13 years’ experience working with children of all ages. I enjoy working with children, I love watching them learn and develop.  I love to talk and have lots of energy. In my spare time I enjoy taking my dog for a walk, crocheting and shopping. I also love cooking! I am really excited to join the Minibugs team. Kirsty has recently commenced maternity leave’

Meet Kristina – Interim Deputy Nursery Manager

‘I have worked in childcare since 2008 and have gained lots of knowledge and experience working with children up to 5 years of age. I have recently moved back to Cornwall, having lived in Surrey for 14 years. I am passionate about my job and love watching the children grow and develop.’

Meet Holly – Nursery Practitioner/ Safeguarding Ambassador 

‘I am a level 3 qualified Practitioner and have nearly four years’ experience in Childcare. I have always wanted to work with children, even from a young age. I enjoy spending my spare time with my best friend and her little boy.’

Meet Zoe – Nursery Practitioner

‘I am a level 3 qualified Practitioner and I have a passion for working and caring for children of all ages. I enjoy supporting children through all stages of their development and watching them blossom and grow. I am a very friendly and caring character and love to share my idea’s and thoughts with the team, alongside parents and carers. I am excited to start my new adventure with Minibugs!’

Meet Lucy – 2’s Room Leader

‘Hi, my name is Lucy. I have been studying and working within childcare for 3 years and I am a kind, caring and enthusiastic person! I really enjoy being outside in the mud kitchen or building dens and fires with the children. I like spending time with my family and friends as well as trying new things.’

Meet Lisa – Nursery Practitioner

‘I am about to start a new adventure in Cornwall with my partner, daughter and pooch Rosie having relocated from the Midlands. We love to go out exploring the Cornish coast, I have even tried my hand at surfing recently. I am looking forward to becoming an Apprentice, this is a very different role to anything I have done before. I look forward to working with the team and families at the nursery and helping the children to have fun and learn!

‘Hello my name is Kirsty, I am a mummy to two wonderful little boys, becoming a mum ignited my passion to help children learn, grow and develop I am excited for my future with Minibugs!’

‘I have been studying and have worked within a childcare setting for two years. I completed my level 3 qualification in Early Years education and I love being able to work with children. In my spare time I like to spend time with my cat, I enjoy reading, singing and cooking. I am really pleased and excited to be joining the Minibugs team!’

Meet Leeanne – Nursery Practitioner

‘Hello my name is Leeanne, I have been in the childcare profession for nearly 20 years. I have a son who is 22 and a daughter who is 17. I am excited to join the minibugs team!’

Meet Val – Nursery Practitioner/ School Readiness Ambassador 

‘I have worked in a school nursery with preschool children for 14 years and have a NVQ 3 in early years. I have recently moved to Cornwall with my husband and daughter from Surrey and am really excited to join the Minibugs team. I love working with young children, watching them thrive and blossom, every child is unique and deserves the best possible start in their education. I love living in Cornwall and in my spare time enjoy baking, going to the beach, walking and spending precious time with my family.’

Meet Toni – Nursery Practitioner/ School Readiness Ambassador 

‘I completed my BTEC National Diploma in children’s care, learning and development in 2010. I then went on to complete my BA (Hons) teaching degree. I have experience working with children from 0-11years in a variety of settings and I have also worked within a special educational needs setting as a Teacher.

I love messy and creative play, as well as singing songs and reading stories. I have a 2-year-old son who I am thoroughly enjoying watching grow and develop into a happy, bubbly and clever young man.’

Meet Whitley – Nursery Practitioner/ Special Educational Needs Ambassador 

‘I am a level 3 qualified practitioner and have worked in childcare for 5 years. I have always wanted to work with children and love watching their faces light up when they learn something new and are enjoying themselves. I enjoy messy play, singing and dancing. I have 2 children and we like spending our spare time exploring the local beaches and woods as well as spending time with our family.
I am excited to meet all of the children and become part of the Minibugs team.’

Meet Lynn – Nursery Practitioner/ Health and Wellbeing Ambassador 

‘I am a Level 3 qualified Practitioner and have 23 years’ experience in child care. I love the enthusiasm of young children and find it a very rewarding job watching them grow in confidence and knowledge until they are ready to go to ‘big’ School. I particularly like craft and role play activities.’


Minibugs St Austell provide all children with a healthy, balanced and nutritious menu with snacks and meals prepared and cooked fresh on site by food safety trained staff.

Minibugs St Austell are now an approved ‘Healthy Under 5s’ setting.

Our menus change each term and coincide with seasonal changes in fruit and vegetables etc. Cultural and dietary requirements are considered for all meals and snack times and we encourage children to experience foods from different cultures.

The menu works on a 5 week cycle, starting with week 1 the meals go in order from Monday to Friday. Week 2 then starts with week ones Monday meal as the Tuesday meal and so on, as to ensure all children attending get the full range of the menu and are not always eating the same meal in nursery.

Monday – Friday: 7:30 – 18:00 (Closed Bank  Holidays and over the Christmas Holidays)
